Kim Karpeles
Starting with a twin lens reflex camera and black-and-white roll film, Kim Karpeles has had an interest in photography since age 5. Whether using a Kodak instamatic or a 35mm Yashica rangefinder purchased at a garage sale, she has been a serious enthusiast.
Kim moved to the professional level about 12 years ago following a presentation on stock photography made in an adult-study evening photography class by another stay-at-home mom. She saw the opportunity to make image sales along with having a flexible schedule as an ideal way to turn a hobby into a profession. Through self-marketing efforts and acceptance into stock agencies, she has developed many clients and increased her understanding of what makes for marketable images.
Focusing primarily on the needs of the editorial market, Kim has developed a broad and deep catalog on Chicago, northern Illinois and Midwestern subjects. In addition, she has traveled to numerous foreign countries for both charitable and photographic purposes. An intermediate-level Spanish speaker and a gourmet cook, Kim particularly enjoys travel to Spanish-speaking countries and photographing local foods and produce. She plans on returning to Armenia to build another playground in the fall of 2009.
Along with publication in Midwest Living, National Geographic Traveler, Midwest Traveler, and Time Asia, numerous travel guides, calendars and textbooks, Kim does photographic assignment work for public relations departments of Fortune 500 companies, governmental agencies, trade associations and conservation organizations.

Felicia Martinez
Felicia Martinez found photography early in life while studying graphic design. Her formal education was at the ArtCenterCollege of Design in Pasadena, and her practical experience was gained through assisting a variety of photographers, from high fashion to commercial. She has been photographing for PhotoEdit since 1989 in a wide range of subject matter that includes food and people of all ages, from babies to seniors, in an array of lifestyle situations. She has a studio in Santa Monica, CA and is equally comfortable photographing on location. For her, photography has always been about getting to the essence of a situation. Felicia currently lives in Malibu, CA with her family and is always working on her fine art photography.
